Through rust we become
Fire and steel were used in the making of this sculpture as a metaphor of how strong but also how perishable we are in this world. The shapes are burned into the steel with welding, thus altering, melting and hazardously changing the metal. But the effect is not one of destruction, on the contrary, it creates something new by giving life, identity and a destiny of its own. We are ourselves rough material that is shaped into something unique with every new existence, with every new individuality. We are being created and we create on our own. This is our destiny. This is our cycle. This is Becoming.
